Making the most of your title: Appearances in the Summer

It's summer time and for once we have hot weather here in the UK, but this also means a massive surge of summer time events that you can be a apart of. Even if you work full time, because of the summer holidays there are events on in the week day and the weekend!! Here's Sparkles and Rhinestones tips of how to make the most of your sash during the summer!

1. Check out Facebook for all the local events!

Once you show your interest in one local event, so many more events will pop up of which you may be interested in. This is especially true when it's a charity event, as then Facebook will show you what other events the charity is hosting! Also depends on the venue used, as there could be lots of different events at the same venue throughout the summer. Social media is a great tool for looking for places to take that sash and crown! Email the organisers and see if they need any help, maybe you could have a stall and do a tombola or raffle, to raise funds for your chosen charity. Even dig out all your unwanted clothes and head down to a car boot sale! The list is endless! This is a chance to be seen in your local area, so make sure you look the part!

2. Hold your own charity event!

From charity pageants to tea parties, depending on what your event caters for, the summer holidays is a great time to organise an event! If it has kids activities, then more parents will be inclined to come, organise a tea party for you and your friends on a summers evening when it is lighter and donate the proceeds to your chosen charity, even charity pageants can get you feeling more prepared for your finals and helping a good cause along the away. When planning an event, look at who your target market is, the location and also the weather as for example a dog show attracts a lot of people, but in this heat can be harmful to the little dogs so best to hold off until the cooler times of the year.

3. Travel!

Of course some of us have full time jobs, some may have finished uni, this gives you a chance to travel a bit further from your community to attend events. Statically these months are where you are more likely to book time off work so make sure they count! Remember taking your sash on holiday does NOT count as an appearance, so why not arrange to meet another finalist in their home town and practice? Let them show you the wonders of what makes their town/city great? Have a pageant meet up? There are so many possibilities when you put your mind to it!

4. Take some time out

Remember that you don't want to burn yourself out when it comes to competing. You still need some weekends to you, unless you are like me who tends to fill their weekends with everything pageant related! You still need some you time, otherwise you will get jaded. Making appearances should be fun, not stressful!!

5. Enjoy!!!

Summer is the time for fetes, carnivals, fun days, make sure you enjoy these events as the photos will tell! Remember to dress to the event, a giant ballgown is not going to go down well when its 30 degrees outside at a tea party (unless you've been asked to dress like that by the organisers), the same goes if you turn up in a crop top and short skirt to a children's fun day. You are a queen at all times girls!!

Be proud of your title, whether it be regional or international, we are all the same pageant girls making a difference in the world! If there is any subject you would like to have talked about, please message us!
